2010 Census - 10 Questions, 10 Minutes, Just 5 Reasons Why!
Submitted by: The DaLyfe Crew - February 24 2010
Why is the 2010 census so important?
Not only is the 2010 Census your community's voice in government, and a chance for you to play a role in deciding what resources your community needs going forward, but did you know that participation is also mandatory. It's true. If you don't "fill it out and send it back," a census taker will likely show up at your door looking for the answers to those 10 simple questions.
-
- Our Founding Fathers organized the census back in 1790 in the hopes of empowering the people over their new government.
- The data collected by the census helps determine the number of seats your state has in the U.S. House of Representatives.
- The answers to your questions will help paint an accurate picture of who make up America.
- The results will effect the amount of government funding (billions of dollars!) your city or state will receive for such important things as schools, hospitals, roads, training centers, health care services, etc.
- Residents themselves can use census data to support community initiatives involving environmental legislation, quality–of–life issues and consumer advocacy.

What Questions Will Be On The Form

When Will I Receive The Form?
The Census forms are mailed out in March of 2010. You should fill it out and return it as soon as possible, the government is using April 1st as a point of reference for sending them back. Remember, if you don't send it back, a census taker will come to your home – this will happen sometime between April and July of 2010.
The 2010 questionnaire is one of the shortest in history! Make your 10 minutes count, you won't get a chance to take part again for another 10 years!
