Hungry - A Young Model's Story of Appetite, Ambition, and the Ultimate Embrace of Curves Part 2

Well, I finished readin' Hungry, A Young Model's Story of Appetite, Ambition, and the Ultimate Embrace of Curves, by Crystal Renn (released September 09). Sorry it took me so long to get back at ya.
Overall, I really enjoyed the book, and would still recommend it wholeheartedly to ALL of you. Matter of fact, I'm sending it to my mom so she can read it too.
Crystal has a real way of making us "plus" woman (the term used for anyone above a size, ...well ...nothing) feel a sense of power. A power of which any of us can "own" and "work." Contrary to the common misconception of plus size woman, Crystal doesn't condone being unhealthy. She emphasizes the need for being at a healthy weight for your body, and gives scientific evidence of how and why that size will differ for each of us.
Funny thing is that my husband bought me this book so that I would stop being so hard on myself. Accept myself for what/who I am. And ultimately, be happy. So, is that what the book did for me? Well, I can honestly say that yes, the book did empower me to accept myself for what/who I am, and to stop being so hard on myself. But, it also gave me a new end goal for what I want to accomplish with my own body.
No, there was no shouting from the rooftops, "Whoo! This is me world, I've got a fat ass (which my man happens to LOVE!) - love it or leave it!" Rather, I found a new appreciation for the body I have. I always knew that I didn't need to be a size 2, 4, or 6 to be beautiful, but I now realize that I don't need to be a size 11, or 12 to be beautiful either. If I give my body the treatment it deserves: If I eat right, and get appropriate, regular exercise, then who am I to argue with my body if it decides it's perfectly comfortable and happy at a size 14?
So that's my new goal, not to try and reach some random number on the scale, or to try and fit into designer labels (because that means that I can't be fat), but to treat my body right, and to be happy with the results that doing so brings. I haven't done much for my body lately and it shows, but I am going to change that starting today! What size that means I ultimately will end up at, I don't know, but right now that is also no longer my main concern!
So, should you read the book? YES!
Do you need to be "plus size" to appreciate it? Absolutely Not! Any woman, young or old, who has looked in the mirror and at any point in her life has hated on herself for her supposed lack of "Perfect" features, can appreciate this book.
"The solution is to accept that the only person you have to please is yourself. Indulge your instincts, wear what you love, and embrace your own natural size... Confidence is what ultimately makes us attractive, no matter what we look like... My most important advice, which may sound ironic coming from a model, is this: Stop obsessing about being looked at. Do stuff. Be. Don't wait to be thin to start living." – From Crystal Renn's Hungry
